Not for Emergencies
RetinaDirect is not an emergency service. Sudden vision loss, a curtain or shadow over vision, new flashes or floaters, eye pain or trauma may need urgent in-person evaluation. Do not delay emergency care while waiting for an image consultation.
A Consultant Opinion to the Treating Clinician
- Consultations are provider-to-provider. The requesting clinician remains the treating clinician.
- A specialist’s interpretation is a consultant opinion to that clinician. It is not a diagnosis made by Helios Med LLC or by the software.
- The requesting clinician decides whether and how to use the opinion and is responsible for patient communication, treatment and referral.
Limitations of Image-Based Consultation
Interpretations are based solely on the images and clinical information submitted. Image quality, field of view, missing images or incomplete history can limit what a specialist can determine. An image consultation does not replace a complete ophthalmic examination where one is clinically indicated.
No Automated Diagnosis
The Service does not use artificial intelligence to diagnose disease or generate clinical recommendations from image content. It organizes the information you provide and routes it to a human specialist.
No Patient Relationship
Specialists using RetinaDirect do not contact patients, prescribe, order medications or schedule treatment through the Service. Use of the Service does not create a physician-patient relationship between a patient and the consulting specialist or Helios Med LLC.
